Full Splice Variant Array Service Launched by Jivan and MOgene

(July 11, 2005) – A full splice variant microarray service was launched today by Jivan Biologics, Inc. a privately held company in Berkeley, CA, in partnership with MOgene LC, a privately held company located in St. Louis, MO. The service will provide drug companies and academic researchers with experimental results from their biological samples using Jivan's splice arrays together with MOgene's hybridization and data analysis services.

"MOgene's molecular biology expertise makes it easy for scientists to find biologically meaningful changes in RNA splicing from Jivan's microarrays," said Subha Srinivasan, PhD, CEO and Founder of Jivan.

"Jivan's TransExpress™ splice variant arrays give scientists four or more times as many potential clinical markers and molecular diagnostics as conventional gene arrays," said Shaukat Rangwala, Vice President of Research Operations at MOgene.

RNA transcript diversity is generated by expression of different genetic loci and by splicing. Splice arrays enable investigators to look at both of these aspects quantitatively.

Full service is available through MOgene for Jivan's entire product catalogue of splice arrays, listed online at www.jivanbio.com. Customers who wish to perform their own hybridization and data analysis may purchase arrays a la carte.

Jivan Biologics empowers scientists with new insight by providing a full catalogue of splice variant arrays to benefit all stages of the drug development pipeline: biomarkers in blood, diagnostics, target validation, toxicology and basic research. Jivan's TransExpress™ arrays for alternative splicing are manufactured by Agilent Technologies.

MOgene enables biological insights by providing services from experiment design to bioinformatics, leveraging the Agilent platform. MOgene is an Agilent Certified Service Provider with experience performing experiments with Jivan's splice arrays and analyzing splice variant expression data.
